AMULETS

I make amulets in a similar way to my rune-making. I collect branches from trees in the woods around where I live and then slice them, sand them, and wood burn and paint images onto them that have special meaning. I put an individual or generalized intention into the image. For example, the above autumn red maple leaf was for me to honor the season of Autumn and take its energy into myself as I wear it. I’ve also made mountain amulets to help support the goals I’ve had with hiking mountains, memorial amulets for loved ones that I’ve lost, and amulets to represent places I’ve felt the most spiritually at home.

I finish each amulet the same way I finish my rune sets, with multiple coatings of shellac, oil, and wax, which makes them essentially waterproof. I’ve worn mine for years in the shower and swimming all summer and they’ve never had water damage.

The backs of my amulets all carry my signature in runes, which I’ve translated based on its elder futhark rune meanings to encapsulate a wish of mine that I send out with all of my artwork:

“May the fires of truth and the waters of compassion guide you on your journey.”

If you’d like me to make you a custom amulet with an image and method of your choosing, please reach out to me via email anytime:

*The lower row of the amulets above feature thicker leather cords and a bead made from salvaged deer antlers, picturing Mount Agiocochook, a hemlock branch, and Mount Chocorua (from left to right).

I always have amulets for sale at my in-person events, and I hope to have some amulets in my STORE soon as well, so if you’re waiting to view or purchase some online please check back.

Like my rune sets, I offer FREE SHIPPING (within the US only) for all amulets.

International orders: just send me an email with your address so I can check shipping costs ahead.

These are the trees I have used thus far as amulets and the energies I believe they bring:

sycamore ~ air & water; bridge between spirit & matter; growth in any environment

yellow & paper birch ~ beginnings, birth, rebirth; guardians of the dead

eastern red cedar ~ strength & eternity

sugar maple ~ fire; mysteries; a gift that require work to use & understand

eastern hemlock ~ protection & healing

*This amulet above is of a Swedish tomte, which is a mythological Norse creature that lives in houses and acts as a guardian. I’ve designed these signing the word “love” in ASL. The rainbow of this one’s attire is a nod to celebrate and accept diversity of culture, gender, sexuality, faith, and everything in between.

Thank you for reading and I hope to craft something for you soon!

With love & magic,

Kris
